Standard testing is available as screening and assessment is needed. Common testing includes CBC (Complete Blood Count), CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Profile), lipid panels, thyroid function, iron levels, inflammatory markers, etc. Standard blood work is often billable to insurance.
Are the foods you’re eating making you sick? Certain foods can trigger immune system responses in individuals, which can cause undue stress on even the most healthy of bodies. Over time, this stress can add up to a significant set of symptoms and illness.
More to come.
What are the adrenals?
The adrenals are two small glands that are located above the kidneys. Each adrenal gland is composed of two separate functional entities. The other zone, or cortex, accounts for 80-90% of the gland, and secretes the adrenal steroids cortisol, DHEAs, and aldosterone.
Vitamin D was discovered in the 1900s during the Industrial Revolution when Rickets, a condition causing weakened bones and bowed legs in children, was found to be due to a deficiency of vitamin D. In fact, “Vitamin” D is both a vitamin and a hormone.
Heavy metals including lead, mercury, cadmium, metalloid arsenic, and thallium are persistent in the environment and have documented potential for serious health consequences.
Heavy metal toxicity may damage the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, respiratory system, endocrine glands, and detoxification system, including liver and bone health.
Urine testing is a preferable method for diagnosis because it can show metals that are currently circulating in the body (current exposure) and metals that are retaining in the tissues (past exposure, trapped by the body to prevent further damage and harm). Once diagnosed, treatment protocol tends to include chelation therapy and strengthening of the detoxification pathways in the body.
Medical Research on Heavy Metals and Various Conditions</p?
“Heavy Metals and Fertility,” Gerhard I, et al, J Toxicol Environ Health, 1998;54(Part A):593-611.
In 501 infertile women with an average age of 30 years, urinary heavy metal excretion with body load was evaluated after chelation with oral administration of 2,3-dimercaptopropane-1-sulfonic acid (DMPS) at 10 mg/kg body weight following a 12-hour fast and initial urine sample. Significant correlations were found between heavy metals and clinical parameters such as age, body mass index, nationality, and gynecological conditions such as uterine fibroids, miscarriages, and hormonal disorders. The reduction of heavy metal body loads improved the spontaneous conception chances of infertile women.
Are you taking too many supplements? Not enough? Nutritional status is a vital foundation of health and performance. You may be deficient in some vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and/or other essential micronutrients and not even know it.
